Pazo de Barrantes

In 1991 Vicente Cebrián founded this winery in the Salnés Valley, on the left bank of the Ría d'Arosa, in the province of Pontevedra. This winery is based in the Pazo Barrantes itself.

This 12-hectare estate is home to a single grape variety: Albariño. This grape, which reigns supreme in the majority of Galician estates in the Ría d'Arosa, is cultivated using the traditional vine training system, which favours ventilation and sunshine for the grapes, as well as facilitating treatment, fertilisation and harvesting operations. The soil is sandy, shallow and sufficiently acidic. All these qualities allow the Albariño variety to grow in optimum conditions.

A winery with charm

The Pazo de Barrantes winery, located in the Rias Baixas D.O., is made up of 12 hectares around the historic 1511 manor house, on the banks of the Umia River. The climate of the estate is Atlantic, very mild and with an annual rainfall of around 1,500 mm. The estate was born with the intention of being a medium-sized vineyard oriented to the maximum quality of its wines. However, in the way the wine is made, it has the spirit of the Riojan winery founded by the Marqués de Murrieta, as the vineyard is controlled at all times in terms of management, pruning, yields and determining the ideal time for harvesting the grapes.

Its location in the Salnés valley places it in the heart of the Rías Baixas whites. This is the sub-region of the appellation with the most marked maritime influence, which can be seen in all the albariño grapes in the vineyard.
