More than 160 years of history and growth
The Marqués de Riscal winery was founded in 1858, a long road in which the winery has not ceased to improve since the production of its first wine in 1862. Marqués de Riscal is a winery with an innovative mentality, it is a benchmark in the entire wine sector, standing out for its capacity for transformation and improvement, seeking to make original, elegant and fresh wines.
The red grape varieties used in Marqués de Riscal wines are Tempranillo, Graciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mazuelo, which grow on 1,500 hectares of their own controlled land in Elciego, Leza, Laguardia and Villabuena (Rioja Alavesa), an area with a tradition of producing wines with good ageing capacity.
Marqués de Riscal also owns the largest vineyard in the Rueda Denomination of Origin, with 205 hectares of its own Verdejo and Sauvignon blanc varieties, with which it makes young, fresh and fruity whites.
At present, Marqués de Riscal wines are present in more than 110 countries all over the world, exporting approximately 65% of their production.
