A privileged winery located in the heart of La Rioja Alta
This winery is located in a privileged location for growing vines. A region located under the Cantabria and Toloño mountains, which protect it from the cold Cantabrian winds, and with the Ebro river to the south to provide it with the humidity it needs.
This location creates an ideal microclimate for the vineyard. On the one hand, with just enough wind to facilitate perfect aeration of the vines, and on the other, favouring mild temperatures throughout the year with more rainfall during the winter months.
The broken orography, with very well-drained clay-limestone soils, is perfect for the Tempranillo variety. The best old Tempranillo vineyards in La Rioja Alta are found in this region. These are bush vines grown in very poor soils, which significantly reduces their production and increases the quality of the clusters.
The winery has around 5,000 barrels, three quarters of which are French oak and one quarter American oak.
