Wines with more than 150 years of history
The Guelbenzu winery has 46 hectares of vineyards, more than 20 years old, located in Vierlas, in the heart of the Queiles Valley, on the La Lombana estate. La Lombana is an elongated estate made up of materials from the Tertiary period, more than 22.5 million years old. The soil, stony and of low fertility, is extraordinary for the cultivation of vines due to its texture, drainage, low yields, capacity to resist drought and low risk of frost.
The proximity of the Moncayo mountain means that the temperature fluctuations between day and night are very high, which contributes very positively to the formation of tannins and anthocyanins, essential for the production of round wines, with body, character and ageing capacity.
In addition, the wind that blows in the area, the cierzo, is a cold, dry, strong and constant wind, with an important drying capacity, which favours evaporation and avoids the formation of fog and humidity.
The varieties planted in this winery are: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Tempranillo, Graciano, Petit Verdot and Garnacha.
