CVNE

Compañia Vitivinicola del Norte de España was founded in 1879 in the Haro station district. With more than 500 hectares of its own vineyards in the Rioja Alta and Alavesa subzones and pioneers in many areas of Rioja wine. Commercial brands such as Viña Real, Imperial or Monopole are hidden under the CVNE umbrella.

The origins of Rioja

The history of this winery begins in Haro in the Barrio de la Estación, which dates back to 1879. Close to the railway tracks, which at one time reached the interior of the winery so that the wine could be easily transported in casks and later in bottles.

CVNE controls around 545 hectares located in the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa sub-areas.

The vineyards of the Rioja Alta, where the grapes for the wines of this winery come from, are characterised by clay-calcareous, clay-ferrous and alluvial soils and a predominantly Atlantic climate.

The winery comprises a complex of 22 buildings and cellars, including the original 1879 outbuildings, arranged around a courtyard.

The winery combines harmony, tradition, quality and innovation. In 1940 it was a pioneer with the construction of the first concrete fermentation hall in Spain, and in the 1980s it was the first non-aggressive winemaking hall in Spain.
