Ribera del Duero noble wines
The Bodega Conde de San Cristóbal, located in the historic Pago de Valdestremero, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, was built at the beginning of the century by the de la Mata family, who also owned the Bodegas del Marqués de Vargas in Rioja Alta.
Its vineyards enjoy an extreme continental climate with marked temperature fluctuations and moderate rainfall. These climatic characteristics have a great influence on the vegetative cycle of the plant and the ripening of the grapes.
Thanks to the 7 types of soils on the property, the extreme temperatures combined with the mountain winds, the wines acquire a high level of acidity, which gives them greater structure and longevity. They are opulent wines, with a lot of fruit, body and colour typical of this wine region.
The red wines of Conde de San Cristóbal are of limited production, dedicated exclusively to the production of high-end red wines.
The grapes are harvested by hand with a rigorous selection of the grapes and each plot is vinified separately for greater quality control. The grapes are then cold macerated before fermentation, which takes place over the next 9 to 12 days with daily pumping over and punching down during this time.
