Scotch Whisky with 400 years of history
The history of Bushmills begins in 1608, when King James I. granted Sir Thomas Phillips - owner and Governor of Antrum - a licence to distil. In 1784 the distillery was registered and the retort became the emblem of the company. The first big difference came together in the 1850s, when a new malt tax was introduced. Because of this tax many distilleries changed their recipes, while Bushmills kept theirs. Despite many obstacles such as a huge fire, prohibition and the Second World War, which made life difficult and even brought production to a seasonal halt, the distillery was unstoppable.
Bushmills is today one of the most famous and popular whisky brands in the world.
