BARON-FUENTÉ

In 1961, Gabriel Baron met the Spanish Dolores Fuenté at the village dance. At that time, being an oenologist was not socially recognized, so he told her that he was a letter carrier when he introduced himself to her. Shortly after, they got married and, as a wedding gift, they received a hectare of vineyard from the groom's family.

Thus they founded their dream maison, a family winery in which the couple's descendants would be involved to this day. The first was Sophie, the couple's daughter, who joined the project in 1982. Ignace, the second son, would join his family in the production of their sparkling wines and did so by contributing 13 hectares of vineyards of his own.

Today, it is the brothers who lead the project and they also count on the help of their chef de cave Orlando, who is the mastermind behind all the champagnes of the house.

The location of the 38 hectares of vineyard is more than privileged. Soils of marl and clay are the perfect place for the Meunier to give its best. While this is the star grape of the house, Chardonnay and Pinot noir are not far behind.
