Ballantines is one of the most popular brands of Scotch whisky and the second best-selling brand in the world. It is a blended blend of no less than 50 Single Malts, of which the "soul" is from the Miltonduff and Glenburgie distilleries, and 4 grain whiskies, creating a quality and extremely versatile whisky.

The Ballantines story begins in 1827, when young George Ballantine, the son of farmers, opened his own wine and spirit shop in Edinburgh. In 1865, George entrusted the business to his eldest son and opened a larger shop in Glasgow. It was during this period that the Ballantine family began experimenting with blended whisky, which was very popular with the business' customers. In 1881, George Junior took over the reins of the business, leading to it receiving the "Royal Warrant" from Queen Victoria just a few years later in 1895.

Today, the distillery is owned by the French group Pernod Ricard, having passed through various business groups.
