Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Auchentoshan distillery is located at the foot of the Kilpatrick Mountains, on the outskirts of Clydebank in West Dumbartonshire. Due to its proximity to Glasgow, Auchentoshan is often referred to as the "Glasgow Malt Whisky".
It is one of only six malt whisky distilleries in the Scottish Lowlands. There has been an Auchentoshan distillery on this site since 1800, however, in 1969 Eadie Cairns, then owner, completely rebuilt the distillery which can be seen today.
The Auchentoshan distillery, which means "Country Corner" in Gaelic, is one of the few Scottish distilleries to practice triple distillation, whereby the spirit is not distilled twice, as in other parts of Scotland, but is distilled three times producing an even greater refinement to its character.
The distillery has been extensively renovated since its acquisition by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd in 1984, although it still retains all its traditional production methods, including its unique Triple Distillation process.
