The Áster winery is equipped with highly specialised, avant-garde facilities where the Tinta del País grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a demanding and delicate manual selection process before being vinified and subsequently aged in 2,700 French and American oak barrels.

Owned by the La Rioja Alta, S.A. Group, this winery represents the foray of the century-old Haro winery into the Ribera del Duero DO.

It was in 1988 when it began, after a thorough study of the land, the acquisition of the 95 hectares of land that currently surround the winery and which are cultivated exclusively with the native Tinta del País grape variety. It is a single estate divided into several plots planted between 1989 and 1990. It was not until 2000, when it was considered that the plots and the grapes had reached the level of quality sought by the Group, that the first Áster wine was produced, vinified and aged in the recently inaugurated winery.
