Opened in 2001, the Juan Alcorta winery was designed to establish a harmonious balance between oenology, architecture and sustainability. These elements have come together to create a temple of winemaking that remains at the forefront of today's international wine market and sustainability.
Wines such as Campo Viejo, Alcorta, Azpilicueta, are excellent examples of this.
Architecture and sustainability
The spectacular architecture of the winery and the efficiency of its modern winemaking process place it at the forefront of winemaking and the new wine culture. Some of its processes, recovered from tradition, such as the descent of the grapes by gravity and the excavation of the winery, are features of intelligence at the service of the final result. It is undoubtedly a benchmark winery within the most modernist wine culture.
Vineyards and Barrel Room
It is a winery with 280 hectares of its own vineyards, a 6,000,000-bottle bottle cellar and a barrel room with 70,000 barrels (70% American oak and 30% French oak), making it the largest barrel room in Europe in a single building and one of the largest in the world.
Founder and values
The founder Juan Alcorta was an imaginative entrepreneur, with a lot of initiative, and always a great source of inspiration. That is why all this is reflected in the essence of Alcorta. Each wine is a tribute to the values of the founders.
A brand ready to face new challenges. A brand capable of jumping into a new stage with determination and, above all, with a big heart, like its founder. Alcorta is the passion of a visionary who never rests. A source of inspiration to break the clichés and follow the path of innovation with courage.
