A cava with its own name
Agustí Torelló Mata, son of tailors and musicians, entered the world of cava at a very young age, making it his passion and his profession.
The vineyards and cellars of Agustí Torelló Mata are located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, considered the capital of cava, and the heart of the Penedés wine region. This region is located in the central coastal area of Iberian Catalonia, bathed by the Mediterranean. The large geological structures of the region and the influence of the sea determine the geographical and micro-climatic limits of the set of sub-areas that make up the Penedés (pre-coastal mountain range, Penedés Depression and coastal mountain range).
To make the cavas, the Torelló family selects only grapes from vines over 30 years old. The importance of old vines can be explained as follows. The deep roots allow the plant and its grapes to be enriched with the character of the sub-zones and provide the vines with water from the spring rains, which year after year ensure the regularity and quality of the harvest.
