Remirez de Ganuza

Remirez de Ganuza is one of the iconic wineries of the Sierra de Cantabria. Fernando Remirez founded the winery in 1989, acquiring some of the best vineyards in the Sonsierra area between Rioja Alta and Alavesa. Loyalty to the vineyard, with an average age of over 50 years, and an obsession for precision and cleanliness throughout the process up to the glass. The 2004 vintage was awarded 100 Parker points for its Gran Reserva.

Description of Remirez de Ganuza White Wine Reserva
Remirez de Ganuza White is one of the most sophisticated white wines from La Rioja. A wine fermented and aged in French oak barrels exclusively, and only made from free-run must. A wine that combines the richness and complexity of the whole ageing process with a refreshing and crisp sensation that speaks of the area it comes from, its clay-limestone soils and its native grape varieties.
The main difference with respect to the traditional Remirez de Ganuza Blanco is that the Reserva is made exclusively with a single vineyard planted in 1978, while the traditional comes from different estates.
Made mainly with Viura and complemented with Malvasia and Garnacha Blanc among others. It matures for 12 months in barrels and years in the bottle until it sees the light of day. A wine of very low availability that you have to know to recognise the potential of Rioja whites. Perfect to drink with baked or grilled white fish, soft cheeses and pasta with seafood and creamy sauces.
