López de Heredia Viña Tondonia
D. Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta began a process of wine production, once the Bordeaux businessmen had returned to their country; for this reason Rafael decided to perforate the Calado, to obtain an underground space in which to stack the barrels in which to begin the ageing of his wines. Already at the time of the closure of the French borders, in 1892,
Tradition and conviction: centuries-old attributes
At Lopez de Heredia, the winemaking process is a family heritage that is passed down from generation to generation; it is a mystique present in a daily work, rooted in the perenniality of tradition and in the deep conviction of the validity and validity of the family methods.
In order to obtain the highest quality wines, it is necessary to have one's own agricultural heritage. For this reason, between 1913-1914, Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta planted Viña Tondonia, giving rise to the winery's best known product. Viña Tondonia is a beautiful vineyard of more than 100 hectares, located on the right bank of the river Ebro, where the most typically Riojan grape varieties are grown.

Description of Viña Tondonia Red Wine Reserva
Viña Tondonia is the flagship of the López de Heredia winery in Haro. One of the indispensable Reserva wines from Rioja Alta with a minimum of 6 years of ageing in oak barrels with 2 manual rackings per year. Classic blend dominated by Tempranillo (75%), with a relevant contribution of Garnacha (15%) and completed by Graciano and Mazuelo (10%). A wine with the paradox of having that point of freshness and lightness in spite of its ageing, resulting in notes of red fruit, with hints of dried petals, vanilla and elegant toast and, in short, very easy to drink. A wine to enjoy with roast meats, cured cheeses or game dishes with wild berries sauces.
