The Winery

Segura Viudas

When Segura Viudas took over the lands that today make up the Heredad in 1954, they were already aware of the centuries-old agricultural tradition that had taken place there and some references to the vestiges that were hidden within its walls. They were also aware of the value that such a privileged location could transmit to the cavas and wines.

Today, fifty years later, we are faithful to this vision guided by coherence and respect for the land, the landscape and history, which integrates a sustainable conception of the environment. This is the only way we understand how the cavas and wines of the Heredad are made in harmony.

Descripción de Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Gran ReservaDescription of Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Gran Reserva

Brut Vintage Gran Reserva is a Brut Nature cava produced by Segura Viudas with D. O. Cava. The coupage is made of Macabeo (67%) and Parellada (33%) grapes. The must for the elaboration of this cava is obtained by the softest pressing of the grape. Even so, only half of the must is used, the one known as "mosto flor", as this is more aromatic and delicate. The coupage consists of ten different wines of the two varieties mentioned above. These are fermented separately at a temperature of between 14º and 16º with the aim of obtaining the maximum possible varietal expression. Fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts from the same vineyards. This cava is ultimately aged on lees for at least 36 months. Finally, the expedition liqueur is made with white wine that has fermented for five months in American and French oak barrels. The expedition liqueur has no added sugar, which makes this cava a Brut Nature.
