Remirez de Ganuza

Remirez de Ganuza is one of the iconic wineries of the Sierra de Cantabria. Fernando Remirez founded the winery in 1989, acquiring some of the best vineyards in the Sonsierra area between Rioja Alta and Alavesa. Loyalty to the vineyard, with an average age of over 50 years, and an obsession for precision and cleanliness throughout the process up to the glass. The 2004 vintage was awarded 100 Parker points for its Gran Reserva.

Attack with good fruit load and good mouth center. Very good integration of wood and good acidity. Balanced and long.

Description of Remirez de Ganuza Reserva

Remirez de Ganuza Reserva is one of the winery's flagship wines. A Reserva made only from the shoulders of bunches of grapes from vineyards with an average age of over 40 years. One of the keys of this wine is that in its blend we find 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, and in the fermentation process we add 5% of Viura and Malvasía skins. The profile of Remiez de Ganuza Reserva is that of a Reserva with a balance and freshness that is difficult to achieve in some Reservas. A versatile Rioja that goes very well with both meat and fish, and especially well with spoon dishes and cured cheeses. And one of the Rioja Reservas most suitable for ageing.

Making notes

Prepared only of the shoulders of the clusters of vineyards between 25 and 40 years old. In its assembly we find 85% of Tempranillo, 10% of Graciano and 5% skins of Viura and Malvasia. Bred in French and American oak barrel for 26 months.
