Matsu

The Toro area has two ingredients that have always attracted the attention of Vintae's technical team. On the one hand, it is an area where there is a tradition of not interfering too much in the vineyard, and on the other hand, there are old vineyards of extraordinary quality.

Raúl Acha belongs to the most recent generation of a family that has been linked to the world of wine for more than two centuries.

For the last 10 years he has been Technical Director of Vintae, a company where he has spent practically his entire career, and where he has launched projects in nine different designations of origin in Spain, always looking for the best vineyards in order to capture all their potential in unique and innovative projects, in wines that reflect the personality of each area.

Description of Matsu el Viejo

Wisdom, old age and experience in cup. This is Matsu's most special wine. It is made only in special vintages and seeks to reflect the wisdom of those who have dedicated their entire lives to the countryside. It shows a very interesting evolution in the bottle, so it is easy to think that after some extra time it will finish rounding off to show its maximum potential.

Selection of extremely limited centennial vineyards.

Making notes

Fermentation and 3 weeks of maceration in deposits of 15,000 kg. Malolactic fermentation in deposits. Wine without filtering and clarified process without using aggressive processes. Agar of 16 months in new French oak barrels.

Climatología

Vintage of great production and longer duration to the usual. Good weather conditions led to a slow and homogeneous maturation of grape by favoring its high quality. Very powerful wines, with a lot of body and great complexity.
