The origin of the Marqués de Murrieta winery is linked to the origin of Rioja wine. Its founder, the Marqués de Murrieta, brought Bordeaux winemaking techniques to Spain, made his first wine in 1852 in Logroño and settled in Finca Ygay. Located in the heart of Rioja, this estate is home to the Ygay Castle, the headquarters of the Marqués de Murrieta winery, surrounded by 300 hectares of surrounding vineyards.

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is a red wine made by Riojan winery Marqués de Murrieta . This reserve wine has a balanced aging of a year and a half in new and semi-new American oak barrels and two years in bottle. Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is the result of daily work, respect for the land and the meticulous selection of the best grapes, as well as the care of all the details during the four years that this spectacular wine has been aged. It is made with Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha varieties and is a very versatile wine when choosing the pairing, ranging from hake loin or a creamy rice stew or a selection of cheeses. A safe value for both amateurs and experts that you should not miss.

Located on our YGay farm, YGAY vineyards occupy an area of 300 hectares surrounding the winery, in La Rioja Alta, with an altitude difference from 320 meters at 485 meters.

Making notes

The clusters are jeopardized and squeezed gently. The varieties ferment separately in stainless steel tanks, with temperature control. The covet has a duration of 8 days during which comeback and bazwood, to favor the contact of the must with the boles and cause a slow and natural extraction of aromas and polyphenols. After fermentation the solid parts of the grape are pressed into vertical presses, by means of a smooth and slow process that favors the extraction of color and mature tannins residing on the liper.
