The Winery

Viñas del Vero

Viñas del Vero owes its name to a river in the Somontano region, the Vero River, famous for its ravines, gorges and canyons.

With vineyards of the traditional varieties of the region (Tempranillo, Moristel, Garnacha and Macabeo), together with others of different origins (Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir) they produce wines that entered the market in 1990.

Currently, Viñas de Vero is the leading winery in the Somontano appellation in terms of production volume and quality.

Descripción de BlecuaDescription of Blecua

Blecua, with the help of Viñas del Vero, brings us from the Somontano Denomination of Origin one of its most desired projects, the creation of a winery for the exclusive production of its highest quality wine. Blecua is a charming winery that opened its doors in July 2000. Blecua winery is located very close to Viñas del Vero, on the axis that defines the river Vero from Barbastro to Alquézar. Blecua is the result of a triple selection of vineyards, clusters and barrels. This way, an exceptional wine is obtained, very covered, with a cherry color, of great aromatic intensity, with firm but pleasant tannins and with extraordinary wood finely integrated in a harmonious whole. It is a wine with a good present but above all with a promising future, whose life can be extended by more than ten years.

Making notes

The Vintage 2013 will be remembered as the latest in the history of Viñas del Vero. The maturation period began late and was slow due to both the temperature and the number of existing clusters. The harvest was manual and made separately in each of the eight vineyards, carrying out a first selection of clusters in the strain. The grapes of each vineyard in French oak trunk cubes was fermented separately. Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, the wines are conducted to new barrels to perform the malolactic.
