The Averna Amaro Siciliano is a type of Italian herbal liqueur to be taken after meals as a digestive. It has a bitter and sweet taste, sometimes syrupy. The amaro is produced by macerating herbs, roots, flowers, barks and citrus peel in alcohol, either in neutral liquors or wine, mixing after filtering with syrup and letting the mixture age in barrel or bottle
