The Winery
Rafael Palacios
Rafael Palacios is an absolute icon in Spanish wine and more specifically in the field of white wines. In Valdeorras, in the Bibei Valley area, he makes some of the best Godellos in Spain. Acclaimed by prescribers and consumers alike, his whites from small, lost Godello vineyards perfectly portray the angular, Atlantic terroir of the O Bolo area.

Description of As Sortes
Made with grapes from the oldest vineyards owned by the winery. There are 6 small "sortes" that were planted by local winegrowers in the late 70's and early 80's and that Rafael Palacios acquired upon his arrival in the region during the years 2004 to 2007. As Sortes is one of the Spanish white wines that most accurately represents the balance between its cool angular terroir and varietal identity. A Godello from granitic sandy soils that develops an Atlantic profile, crisp, with notes of grapefruit and white flower without giving up an almost Burgundian texture as only Rafael Palacios knows how to do. A wine that gastronomically fits perfectly with noble fish that require a certain balance of acidity and clean mouthfeel, such as turbot, and that is up to the task with products of great concentration of flavour, such as shellfish or all types of crustaceans.
