Nota de CataTasting notes

Look

well covered cherry red color.

Smell

We found spicy and aromatic plants scrubland (thyme, rosemary, lavender, bay leaf) own Graciano makes a perfect assembly with the tempranillo and wood nuances.

Taste

The palate is enveloping, with tannins firm but gentle character. In the finish mineral notes, dark chocolate and fine woods appear.

Descripción de Angeles De AmarenDescription of Angeles De Amaren

Angeles de Amaren, from Wineries Luis Cañas is a red wine with D. O. Rioja made with the varieties Tempranillo (85%) and Graciano (15%). Amaren (Mother) winery was inaugurated to commemorate the wife of Luis Cañas and mother/grandmother of his heirs, who continue at the foot of the winery, making wines of an increasingly excellent size. The grapes come from vineyards over 40 years old planted on terraces and slopes protected by the Sierra Cantabria and the plots have poor soils, with a low yield that ensures a high quality per vine.

Elaboración Angeles De AmarenMaking notes Angeles De Amaren

Notas del Viñedo

Small plots located in slope areas and terraces, with a perfect sun exposure and where the land is poor, ideal to get strains and grapes of the highest quality. Vineyards of an age of 40 years.

Making notes

Grapes harvested in boxes. Double selection table (clusters and then grains). The wines of the Tempranillo and Graciano varieties have been elaborated and raised separately, managing to preserve the fruit of the Tempranillo and enhance the complexity of the Graciano with its spicy character. Both wines perform the malolactic fermentation in new barrels of French and American oak. Farring 16 months in new barrels (50% French and 50% American).

Climatología

Mediterranean continental climate, with dried and hot summers and cold winters and with few rainfall.
